Many of the homes we clean in Rockwall, Royse City, Heath and surrounding areas have tile in the kitchen, bathroom or another part of the home. Tile cleaning and especially the grout lines can be difficult. Grout can house germs , mold and mildew.
Cleaning grout lines is often on spring cleaning lists. For houses with heavy traffic, grout lines may need to be cleaned more frequently.
While tile cleaning is generally very easy, grout is a completely different story. Grout is porous, allowing liquids especially to seep in to the grout. This makes grout very prone to staining and more difficult to clean.
The best way to begin in any cleaning scenario is to test the cleaner of choice in a small hidden area to see how it reacts to the surface it is being used to clean. In some cases you might choose to start with just water and a stiff brush.
If you want to take it a step up, fill a spray bottle with half vinegar and half warm water. Spray the area that is in need of cleaning and let it sit for five minuets. Then scrub it off with a stiff brush.
For a very dirty grout line, you may consider making a paste. Mix baking soda and water together to form a paste and cover the grout lines with it. Then spray on your vinegar solutions. Once it stops bubbling, scrub and rinse off with regular water.
